Raksha Bandhan 2023: Essay On Rakhi Festival For Students

0

[ad_1]

Raksha Bandhan, also known as The Bond of Protection, is a well-known and historically significant Hindu annual rite or ceremonial that serves as the centerpiece of the same-named festival that is observed in the Indian Subcontinent. Additionally, it is observed in other regions of the world that have been greatly affected by Hindu culture. This year, the festivities of Raksha Bandhan are going to be held on August 30, 2023.

On this day, sisters of all ages wrap their brothers’ wrists with a charm or amulet known as a Rakhi. They receive a present in exchange for protecting them metaphorically, and the brothers are generally given a portion of the duty for their potential upkeep.

Essay On Raksha Bandhan For Students

The Hindu lunar calendar month of Shraavana, which usually falls in August, is the day on which Raksha Bandhan is observed. The term “Raksha Bandhan”-which means “the bond of protection, obligation, or care” in Sanskrit-is currently most commonly used to describe this rite. The phrase was more frequently used to refer to a related rite that took place on the same day and has historical precedent in ancient Hindu writings up until the mid-20th century. In that practice, a domestic priest takes financial contributions in exchange for tying amulets, charms, or threads on the wrists of his devotees or altering their sacred thread. In some regions, this is still the case. The sister-brother festival, which had its roots in folklore, had titles that varied depending on the region. Saluno, Silono, and Rakri were some of the translations. The sisters would tuck barley shoots behind their brothers’ ears as part of a saluno rite.

Here are some essays on the Raksha Bandhan festival for students:

1. The celebration of Raksha Bandhan is observed as a symbol of love and harmony. In recognition of the fact that this event is observed on the full moon day and in the lunar month of Sawan, it is also known as Rakhi Purnima. Brothers make a commitment to protect their sisters from all harm on this auspicious day. Even brothers and cousins who know off by heart their obligation to protect their sisters can speak it aloud. In order to strengthen the commitment while getting a gift from their brothers in return, the sisters worship their brothers before tying a thread, or Rakhi, around their wrists. In the past, spouses and wives would exchange rakhi, but today, brothers and sisters also participate. Rakhi was first attached to Lord Indra’s husband by Sachi, his wife, in an effort to shield him from Bali, the evil monarch. So, on this auspicious day, all the wives used to tie the Rakhi to their husbands. To retain love and unity, however, this event later started to be observed by brothers and sisters. Under the British Raj, Rabindranath Tagore also asked Rakhi for help in order to stop the separation of Bengal and to promote harmony and togetherness. This holiday is observed by both Hindus and people from other communities in India. Other nations, such as Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, Mauritius, and others, also mark this festival with great care and respect. Depending on the region, this festival goes under many names. While other parts of India refer to it as Kajari Purnima, the South of India calls it Avani Avatar.

2. Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi, is a Hindu festival that celebrates the tie between sisters and brothers. Sisters tie a thread, or Rakhi, around their brothers’ wrists on this day. In exchange, brothers give their sisters presents and promise to guard them like a shield from the world’s odds.

Sisters wish for their beloved brothers to live a long and healthy life. The thread also bears a bond based on the loving relationship between brothers and sisters, as well as the motto of sharing responsibilities. This spiritual festival of Raksha Bandhan honors the wonderful relationship between brothers and sisters.

3. Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. Regardless, they are at odds with one another, but their relationship is special. Raksha Bandhan is made up of two words: Raksha, which means protection, and Bandhan, which means tying, therefore it literally means tying a protective knot.

As it happens on a full moon day, Raksha Bandhan is also known as ‘Rakhi Purnima.’ Rakhi is celebrated on “Shravan Purnima” in the Hindu calendar, while the month of Shravan/Sawan is the seventh or eighth month of the year in the English calendar.

During the Rakhi celebration, the sister lights a lamp for her brother feeds him sweets, and applies ‘Tilak’ to his forehead before tying a Rakhi/Thread around his wrist. This entire procedure takes place on the holy muhurta of Rakhi tying. Before tying Rakhi, sisters traditionally fast.

Some Fascinating Facts About Onam Festival That Students Should KnowSome Fascinating Facts About Onam Festival That Students Should Know

4. Raksha Bandhan celebrates the unbreakable link of love and care that exists between sisters and brothers. The following are mythical facts from Hindu mythology:

Princess Draupadi tied a knot on Lord Krishna’s cut from the border of her saree as a remedy when his Sudarshan Chakra cut his finger. Lord Krishna then pledged to protect her from any adversity she would encounter in the future. This knot was believed to be the origin of the Rakhi ritual in the Bhavishya Purana.

Other religious legends claim that Goddess Lakshmi once sent a thread to King Bali in order to resurrect her companion (Lord Vishnu). Bali felt obligated to the goddess after receiving the thread, therefore he requested Lord Vishnu’s help in returning to Vaikuntha.

Every year, many elegant Rakhis are sold to commemorate the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Rakhi stalls are embellished by offering purchasers a variety of choices. During the Rakhi season, the E-Commerce market also makes a good profit.

5. Siblings, as we all know, hold an especially special place in our hearts. The relationship between a brother and sister is, nonetheless, particularly special. They are completely devoted to one another. They have an unfathomable amount of affection. Siblings contribute to our development. Every stage of our lives strengthens the connection between them. Through thick and thin, they remain loyal to one another. Sisters are fiercely guarded by their older brothers. The older sisters also take great care of their little brothers. The younger siblings admire the older ones. This relationship is what Raksha Bandhan is all about. It represents the two of them and their distinct and special bond. This day has been correctly designated as a time to celebrate and give attention to this lovely relationship. It represents their adoration, closeness, and faith in one another. No matter how often they argue, they are always supportive of one other. Over insignificant issues, brothers and sisters argue with one another. In other words, they have a close relationship that is both playful and loving.
