The Government of India is making significant headway in boosting the Central Board of Secondary Education’s(CBSE) reputation and global reach by expanding the size of its international board. The modification aims to serve a wider spectrum of students globally by utilising CBSE’s highly regarded, inquiry-based, and skill-oriented curriculum, known as CBSE-International or CBSE-i.
About CBSE-i
In order to serve Indian students studying abroad, CBSE launched the CBSE-i international curriculum in 2010. The board wants to promote critical and creative thinking, effective communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and information and media literacy through the CBSE-i curriculum, which is inquiry- and skill-based.
Since it was originally introduced in 2010 to meet the educational needs of Indian families who do not dwell in those countries, CBSE-International has been successfully implemented in 240 schools across 26 nations. In recognition of its efficacy and compliance with international standards, the government plans to increase the presence of CBSE-i schools abroad, providing more students with access to high-quality education.
Partnerships for High-Quality Education
The government is aware of the value of working with other countries’ education boards, particularly those in wealthy nations. Shreevats Jaipuria, Chair of the PHDCCI Education Committee, emphasises the importance of these cooperation in boosting the quality of school education in India. Wider cooperation with school boards throughout the world will improve educational possibilities for Indian students when India holds the G20 presidency this year.
The capacity of the CBSE-International curriculum to accommodate various learning styles while upholding high academic standards has won accolades. The government wants to give students access to global opportunities and promote cross-cultural learning, thus it is expanding the international board. This programme fits with the National Education Policy’s (NEP) goal of making India a role model for educational reform in developing countries.
